When we do a lean six sigma training we teach six sigma and then lean is utilized in the improve phase. Actually, without the lean tools, six sigma falls way short in many attempts to improve the system. The six sigma tools are great to define, measure, analyze, and control the problem. Lean is often the best method of improvement. Also, the DMAIC model can work with a quick lean project as well. We teach lean six sigm as a way of solving problems. Too many six sigma practitioners try to fit the tool to the problem.
