Definitely, this a good article, a little but clear explanation of lean. I work with ERP implementations and I try to use the lean concepts always. Maybe I am wrong but certain MRPII methodology concepts are considered in the lean technics. For this reason this is familiar for me.

Hello Friends,
With all the different teachings and courses on "Lean" and Six Sigma" I think a lot failures for companys trying to strive for the "Lean Six Sigma" is that they don't make it their own they try to copy a system that worked for some other facility. All the tools in the world will not help you unless you make it your own..

Good post. I agree with your assessment of lean six sigma. When we do a lean six sigma training we teach six sigma and then lean is utilized in the improve phase. Actually, without the lean tools, six sigma falls way short in many attempts to improve the system. The six sigma tools are great to define, measure, analyze, and control the problem. Lean is often the best method of improvement. Also, the DMAIC model can work with a quick lean project as well. We teach lean six sigm as a way of solving problems. Too many six sigma practitioners try to fit the tool to the problem.
